Save Water – Install a Swimming Pool

A quick shout out to the great reporters at the Los Angeles Times. They have just published a researched article that suggests, at least in arid Los Angeles, that a swimming pool actually consumes less water than a standard lawn. This of course assumes that you need to water your lawn, but based on that assumption, the savings are significant. For people who are unaware of how big a gallon is, it is about 3.8 litres. The cost of water in Australia is presently about $2 per 1000L, or $7.60 per 1000 gallons. It is always great to see evidence based reporting on environmental matters.
