Information Gathering

Screen Shot 2013-04-24 at 3.48.37 PMWe are now definitely into the information gathering part of our project. So, rather than come out and release exactly what this is all about right now, I am going to post an image of some of the data that we have collected recently. The image on the right is the code that one of the pieces of equipment we are planning to interface to uses. Sure, to you this might just look like a collection of random numbers, but it really isn’t. It contains a lot of information. In the last fortnight we have collected and documented over 2000 series of numbers like these.

We don’t yet have an exact number on the number of interfaces that we have documented, but it is a lot. There are a lot more that we have gathered and then thrown away since the data collection did not go as desired. Also, at the moment, these interfaces are untested, which will be the next challenge. However, we believe that it is unlikely that there will be major issues. So, where are we getting all this data? Well, believe it or not, from neighbors, colleagues, friends and even service providers. Most seem eager to assist wherever they can.
